Formatting a Data Range into Table in Excel
Excel's "Format as Table" feature generates a structured data table with integrated styling, filtering, and expanding.
Benefits of Excel's "Format as Table" include simple sorting and filtering, dynamic range that expands as more data is added, Formulas have special "structured references," and headers and formatting are always the same.
How to Apply:
- Select the data range (including headers)
- Go to Home > Format as Table
- Choose a style
- Confirm that your table has headers, then click OK
Shortcuts: For applying "Format as Table"- Ctrl+T / Ctrl+L
By using shortcuts, you can navigate to the dialog box as seen in the figure below.
Once you click "OK," you are taken to the table tools or, in someone's instance, to the table design, as seen in the image below.
Now that Excel has a variety of styles accessible, we can click on the button that appears at the end (New Table Style) of the table to design our own style or select a color that we like as a custom style.
