Excel Formatting: Alignment
There are a two types of Alignment in excel
- Horizontal alignments
- Vertical alignments
The way that text, numbers, or formulas are arranged inside a cell is referred to as alignment. Together with powerful formatting tools, Excel provides both horizontal and vertical alignment choices.
1. Horizontal alignment:
a. Align Text left
It is use to align text to the left edge and shortcut for align text left is Alt + H + A + L.
b. Align Text Center
It is use to align text to the center and shortcut for align text center is Alt + H + A + C.
c. Align Text right
It is use to align text to the center and shortcut for align text center is Alt + H + A + R.
d. Justify
It is use to stretches text to align both edges.
e. Distributed
It is use to evenly spaces content across the cell width.
2. Vertical alignments
a. Top Align
It is use to align text to top of the cell.
b. Middle Align
Align text so that it is centered between the top and bottom of the cell.
c. Bottom Align
It is use to align text to bottom of the cell.
d. Justify
Spreads lines evenly from top to bottom
e. Distributed
Spaces lines evenly vertically
3. Advance alignment features:
a. Decrease Indent
It is use to decrease the margin between the border and the text in the cell.
b. Increase Indent
It is use to Increase the margin between the border and the text in the cell.
c. Wrap text
Make all content visible with in a cell by displaying it on multiple lines.
d. Merge & Center
Join the selected cell into one large cell and centers the contents in a new cell.
